About Photomistress:

Photo Mistress is actually a name given to me many years ago by a local band called Simon Stinger. The site first began as just a place for me to post the photos from ProgPower V until the upload problems on Swedish Metal (the OTHER site I work with) was fixed. Since then (November 2004), the site has taken on a life of its own. Archie has graciously volunteered his time in helping launch a full version of the site. My vision for the revamped site was to not only have photos on the site like other sites, but to add things that people ask me about all the time. Things like my set list collection, which EVERYONE knows I grab every available set list from every show (I think I have probably close to 600, so they will all be posted eventually). I also wanted to put together all the promotion crap I do, so I added the upcoming events calendar and upcoming tour sections, plus a couple sections on the forums to discuss these things as well. I want a place where people can gather and promote stuff like that. People always ask about upcoming shows or yell at me when I didn't tell them a show was coming, so now everyone can check in here to find all the info. Please also see my huge links section. I want people to be informed. There is an extensive part dedicated to info about EVERY metal club in California. You want to know about parking, capacity, age limit, etc? Go look there. I will soon be putting up a couple other sections like the In Remembrance section, which is dedicated to my friends in the industry who are no longer with us. The bonus track section will have mp3s and videos of bands that I like to get out there as well. So what you see here is different from what I do on Swedish Metal and hopefully stuff that you all will like. Let me know if you have any suggestions as well.

I started doing photography when I was in 3rd grade.  Then when I was 15, my uncle (who is a professional photographer in Hollywood) gave me my camera for Christmas.  He always said that if I got good enough, people would pay for photos.  No way in hell I thought he was serious, but he’s right.  I have been promoting bands since I was 13 and am very passionate about it.  I am a very dedicated person when it comes to my music.  I also went to recording engineer school in 1993.  A lot of my band friends told me not to do that because the industry is even MORE jaded against girls doing stuff like that, but that makes me all the more determined.  I’ve been doing journalism stuff since I was in 3rd grade as well and have always liked to write.  As long as it wasn’t a book report.  If there is ever something I can help with on a tour, be it running to the store for supplies, hauling gear, writing out set lists, selling merch, etc, I will do it.  Whatever it takes to get that show going, you know?  And I like to promote a lot.  I believe that if more people out there got involved in helping promote shows, the better the scene would be.

Here is an interview that my friend Meg did with ME for her college class... Funny for me to be interviewed instead of the other way around!
