OCTOBER 31st, 2006:

Friggin’ HELL this has been a crazy few weeks over here! So many concerts in such a short time – you’d almost think it was the summer festival time, but it’s not. This Photo Mistress is a very tired Photo Mistress. Am I crazy? Sure. Was it worth it? You damned well bet it was!!! Would I do it again? Ohhhhhhhhhhh yah. Wait until you see what’s in store for THIS update - 50, yes 50, new galleries... the biggest update ever! Albeit it's because it's over an almost-two month period, but due to injuries received at work AND at Krisiun/Decapitated, I was prevented from doing much with my right hand (see below "review" and you'll understand why). So I do apologize. So, on with the update.

JBD did a headlining show at Bourbon Street on August 20th and as always, kicked some major butt. We also did an impromptu photo shoot after the show, some of which did not turn bad at all with the setting sun and all. Then I got to see the almighty Venom headline at the Fillmore, along with support bands High On Fire and Goatwhore. Now THAT was a show. I had never seen Venom and I always love a good show with Goatwhore and High On Fire, so I knew I was in for a kick-ass show… no one disappointed me either. I just wish we could’ve gotten more people over there. Still, the crowd wasn’t that bad considering the confusion about the show.

Now I know I promised a bunch of you that I’d have some pictures of the 142nd annual Scottish Highland Games in Pleasanton over Labor Day weekend, but I ended up WORKING in my friend’s leather shop at the festival, so I didn’t get any pictures of anything other than my clan (clan Hall). Check out Reginald’s killer leather at www.ravenswoodleather.com. You’ll understand why I decided to help them out. All of my custom leather “corsets” are made by him.

Then it was on to my insane-week-from-hell… aka doing 5 shows in 5 days on TOP of working full time the whole week! Pure insanity, but I HAD to do it! First up was Dragonlord, Hollow Point Syndicate and Decreation. I didn’t realize they were playing that night because most people including myself had seen the date as the 8th, not the 6th. So when a friend of mine told me about the show, I just went straight to the gig from work in my work clothes – and I work at a law firm! HA! There was quite the rambunctious crowd there and the bands gave it their all. It was great to see Dragonlord once again and I was pleasantly surprised by the kids in Decreation.

Getting 2 ˝ hours of sleep and going straight to work the next morning, I geared up to see Genitorturers, Mortiis and Push. Also going there straight from work, I was quite excited to see Mortiis again as they kicked my butt at Blackest of the Black last year. I was looking forward to being able to hear a 45 minute set instead of the short 20 minutes they got last time. Boy, did they ever deliver! Lights, sound, everything was perfect – except it’s hard to take photos with so much “fog” on stage. It was my first time seeing Genitorturers and my what an interesting show that was. I was quite strangely entertained, as I have always liked the music and had my mind open to what I would experience that night. GREAT stage presence and stage show! Wow. I took a major detour to Nation’s Hamburgers so that the Mortiis guys and I could eat something, then lead them through “the maze” freeway. We all split up in Dublin and I got home at 4:35am.

Up again after getting 1 ˝ hours of sleep, I went to work for a partial day and then headed straight to the Oakland Coliseum to check out one of the first dates on the Gigantour 2006 fest. After MUCH ado about nothing concerning confusion with our passes, I got to witness some KILLER sets by Into Eternity, Sanctity, Arch Enemy, Overkill, Opeth, Lamb of God and Megadeth. Not a single one disappointed! Another major highlight of the show for me was to see the new tour program, of which I had 8 photos published in! How cool is that?!

Yet another 2 hours of sleep, I proceeded to go to a pretty much sold-out show for Dragonforce, All That Remains and Horse the Band at the Warfield. With every bit of energy given out by the crowd, the bands returned it ten-fold and kept going. The very next day, yes without more than a couple hours of sleep, I headed up to Sacramento to see one of my favourite soon-to-be-known bands, Dark Haven. I made it up there early enough that we got to do a very impromptu photo shoot by the Russian River and also quite a few outside of the club. The club was tiny, but the band gave it their all on stage. Definitely a band for you all to check out! Not but a few days later, I got to witness Unearth, Bleeding Through and Terror. I was a bit mad as I missed the FIRST three bands because the show started SO early and there was traffic, but at least I managed this much. It was definitely a bit of a different crowd for me, but it was nonetheless entertaining to see their interaction with the bands. The next night was the first-ever show for Madras, which has Dominique from Dedicated to Ravens and Crows and Brian from Eyehategod and Soilent Green in the band. Very good mood music and will be perfect once they get a few things tweaked out a bit.

Finally with a little bit of rest, I was quite excited to see Six Feet Under, Krisiun, Decapitated and Abysmal Dawn. Unfortunately, I was not able to witness or photograph Six Feet Under because I had an elbow purposely smashed down onto my head during Abysmal Dawn by an asshole, I got my right hand bruised so badly during Decapitated that I had it wrapped for a month and they still think it's fractured, and then I got kicked in the face by an asshole crowdsurfer (no crowdsurfing is allowed there) during Krisiun and ended up with a bruised face and a bloody nose. Needless to say, I was in pain, but the sets were AWESOME. So I do again apologize for not getting Six Feet Under photos or the update done faster, but you can see why.

Even so, I managed to go see my friend Rob's new tribute band to Motley Crüe, Generation Swine, and to the Rennaisance Pleasure Faire a week later with my friend Justin and again two weeks later with my friend Tony. I took a TON of photos of the glass blowers, the Queen's Court doing a skit, the Knights of Avalon during their jousting and challenges and Moonie and Broon, two of the funniest comedians I have ever seen. For even MORE pleasure, I checked out sets from Celtic Frost (first time I have ever seen them), Sunno))), Goatwhore and the almighty black metallers in 1349. Man, what a show that was! I was so excited I could hardly contain myself during that gig. Also, nothing like seeing one of the 1349 guys singing a POiSON song backstage!!! :) The very next day, tired as all hell, my friend Kyle graciously offered to bring me with him on a drive to Los Angeles to see Stratovarius play with Point Zero since they were only doing three American dates before going to Mexico. I am very, very appreciative for having that chance as the Strato set was full of an incredible amount of energy and House of Blues on Sunset is always nice to see a show at, even if the parking fee is exhorbant.

Four days later, I got to finally see Kamelot on my coast (instead of always at ProgPower) and I was even more happy to finally see Epica live for the first time. The place was PACKED and hot as hell to see these two bands. I had a great time hanging out with Epica that night and also the next night since they had the day off and were hunkered down at the Pound by themselves and Andrea, our lovely bartender at the Pound. Little did I know that the next show I was there for, the Soilwork, Darkest Hour, Mnemic and Threat Signal gig, would be the very last Insipid Productions show at the Pound as three days later, the Pound had to close it's doors for good. All four bands proceeded to send it out with a bang, though. You can blame the Port Authority of San Francisco for that travesty.

I checked out Flipsyde on Friday the 13th, as a very old friend from my high school days is in that band. Man and I thought the crowd for the Unearth show was different for me! hahaha Needless to say, they put on a great show, despite the many sound issues.

Now, most people thought that because the Pound SF had to close it's doors, that there would be very little metal to come around and that the previously booked shows would just disappear. Not so!!! The Fear Factory, Hypocrisy, Decapitated shows were moved... one to the Boardwalk in Orangevale for the Thursday gig and then to the Oakland Metro on Friday. Sad to say, Suffocation was not able to perform these dates. If you want to read a detailed review of these two shows (I did not get to see Fear Factory either night), you can go here. You can also go here to read a bit about the major problems with the Suffocation tour bus and also about the Pound SF and Insipid Productions shows.

My very last set of galleries, which brings me RIGHT up to date, is from my buddy Tony's halloween party this last Saturday night. His band, Necrite, made the garage into a "club" by putting black garbage bags over the entire walls and then had a strobe light and candles to set the mood for the gathering. What a great way to spend the weekend... listening to a really good black metal band, in the dark basically, and hanging out with a few friends. That's the way it SHOULD be.

So, coming up soon will hopefully be photos from Moonspell, Katatonia, Daylight Dies, Blind Guardian, Leaves Eyes, Death Angel, JBD, Entombed, Deicide, Enslaved, Grave, Dismember, Cannibal Corpse (as well as their interview!), and many more that I can't even think of right now! So hope you all will return once again. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!!!   HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

AUGUST 18th, 2006:

Time for a second update in this crazy summer of festivals and tours! It's taken about three weeks to get these photos up and I do apologize. I have been ill for a couple weeks and it takes a lot out of you, you know?

I had the extreme pleasure of running around with one of "my" bands, Cellador, for a few days and was able to get quite a lot of photos from the three gigs I was able to witness. You may see that we are all dripping with sweat. Well, that's because they just had to come here when the Bay Area was in a massive heat wave! The Alameda gig was around 95 degrees in the club. We thought that was hot until we got to Fresno, where it was about 115 degrees in the club - no joking. Man I thought we were going to die of heat stroke! Regardless of the heat, the guys really put on a show, as they are so accustomed to doing. It was very cool for me to see Brocas Helm and Embers of Euphoria supporting the guys at the San Francisco gig, as they are also both incredible bands.

I also managed to get some photos of Children of Bodom and Lamb of God on the Slayer tour in San Jose. Much thanks goes out to Jensen at Adrenaline PR for helping me out with that show! It was a very nice change of pace to see my buddies in COB on such a HUGE stage and in front of a sold out crowd - not to mention it was at the HP Pavilion, which is soooo much bigger than any other stage I have seen them on in the States!

I have to give major props to a band called Re:Ignition, whom has Steev and Snake from Skinlab in the band. No, the music is not like Skinlab at all. I was FLOORED when I saw them headline the show with Barbee Killed Kenn. I had to stop dancing around every once in a while just to take photos. :) And their singer... damn, does he ever have an awesome set of pipes! Barbee Killed Kenn also rocked the stage as they always do and I am glad to see that they want to continue their reunion. I think this is the best time for them, honestly! I got to see JBD, a VERY young but VERY talented new band out of the bay area, open for Anthrax as well. I have supported these boys fully since I saw them back with Loudness this year. They are all of about 17-18 years old, but you'd never know it by listening to them! I was so excited for them since they got this gig - they were really happy about the nice turn of events.

Then I was off to see the mighty Sounds of the Underground for 2006. I was very much looking forward to seeing Behemoth and Cannibal Corpse on such a big stage - the biggest I have seen yet for either band. And neither band let us down! They commanded respect with their stage presence and respect is what they got back in return. GWAR was, as always, entertaining as hell to photograph. I think half the entertainment for me was to see how well I could get away from the "GWAR juice". LOL I did pretty well, too, all the while getting some insane photos that I am really proud of. In Flames put on a helluva light show again for the crowd and it was nice to see them still incorporating some older tunes into their setlist. Also nice to see was the return of Machine Head with my buddy Phil on guitar. They did a great job and I think they even got some new fans, too! As I Lay Dying, The Black Dahlia Murder, The Chariot and Trivium all rocked the stage as well. In my next update I will be posting my interviews with Behemoth, The Black Dahlia Murder and Cannibal Corpse. I am sorry that I had not had the physical energy to transcribe those yet - I am hoping my immune system wil co-operate soon so I can post those for you! Another big thanks goes out again to Jensen from Adrenaline PR and Kelli and Michelle at Metal Blade Records for getting everything set up for me. :)

I had a LOT of fun the last two weekends doing separate promo photo shoots for Vested Ire and Nekrogoblikon. We shot quite a few places in and around Stinson Beach for Vested Ire. The scenery is GORGEOUS up there! I even took pictures of flowers in Michael's yard as well as his dog, Vito. Nekrogoblikon's was fun because the guys wanted some serious photos and some REALLY funny Immortal-esque poses. I would highly recommend checking out their Myspace pages: www.myspace.com/vestedire and www.myspace.com/nekrogoblikon.

I have added a new playlist (aka Symphony of the Damned) as well as a new spotlight. This time around I figured I would spotlight Into Eternity, as they are going out on Gigantour and their new album will be released in October. I also added a bunch of new shows to the Calendar section.

So - things that are upcoming are photos and/or interviews from Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth, The Black Dahlia Murder, Venom, Goatwhore, Death Angel, Genitorturers, Mortiis, Dragonforce and of course Gigantour with Megadeth, Arch Enemy, Opeth, Lamb of God, Into Eternity, Overkill, Sanctity and the Smashup. I'm sure there are more things to add here, but hell of I can remember them right now!

JULY 15th, 2006:

This is by FAR the biggest update I have ever had on here!!!  I have 38 new galleries, over 2,500 new photos and have now gone over the 20,000 photo mark for my site... whew, I'm tired.  :)  Not to mention that I have launched a new version of my site (scroll down past the ****s below to see more info about that please).  So hunker down for a moment and I will tell you what you have in store.

I was fortunate to attend the Ruffians gig with Damage Inc, an awesome early Metallica tribute band from the Bay Area who have Larry Howe from Vicious Rumors on drums.  I haven't seen the Ruffians in many moons and damn, it was like we never left!  Well okay, we all look older, but if you closed your eyes, you'd have thought you were at a gig back in the day.

Next I was VERY happy to have seen the return of Barbee Killed Kenn at their reunion show - they hadn't played together in over 5 years until the night before the gig.  You would never have guessed it live, though - they have not lost ANYTHING.  And judging from the crowd response, I think and hope they will really consider keeping at it again.  Also great for the bill was the Aaron Pearson Band, which is the solo band of the singer from Damage Inc and consists of two other Damage Inc personnel.

The following week I got to see an awesome gig with the Bay Area ambient/black metal band, Necrite.  They are spawned out of members from a now-defunct black metal band, Sentenced To Burn.  If you like this style of music, I HIGHLY recommend seeing these guys!!!

Now, before everyone gets all riled up about the less amount of photos from Vader, Destruction, Kataklysm and Speed Kill Hate (I did alright for Graveworm), let me just explain.  I was helping Vader and got back to the venue after the doors opened, so hence I did not get a spot in front.  For some reason, most of the people at this particular gig were not so nice as normal and I could not get close to the front.  I ended up climbing onto the bar to get photos as well as on the side and on the stage.  I also couldn't risk getting hurt at the gig since I had to go to my grandma's funeral the next morning.  So I hope you guys still like what I was able to get.  Sometimes helping bands is more important than photos.

I must now give a HUGE thanks to Terry from Hot For Teacher and to Alan Ralph (www.metalxcore.com) for helping me IMMENSELY at the Poison/Cinderella/Hot For Teacher show.  If it weren't for these two guys, I would not have been able to go to this show nor get photos for your eyes to see.  Hot For Teacher was able to play second stage before the Poison gig started and gathered quite the crowd on the lawn.  They are the best Van Halen tribute band I know of and Terry absolutely shreds on guitar.  I was also able to take a TON of photos of Cinderella and Poison as I was able to stay in the front row area for the entire show.  Wait till you see THOSE pics!  hehe  That was a great, fun gig.

And now...... to the BIGGEST part of my update... the next morning, I had to wake up at 7am to get my butt to this year's OZZFEST.  I wanted to get there at the beginning so I could show my support for Full Blown Chaos, who was supposed to be the opening band.  They got late, so they played a couple bands later, but that's okay.  I was pleasantly surprised by the now-opening band, Bad Acid Trip.  I really liked them, even if they are strange.  They constantly reminded me of Primus, Faith No More and maybe Samiam all rolled together.  I managed to cover EVERY single band on Ozzfest this year other than Ozzy (includes also A Life Once Lost, All That Remains, Walls of Jericho, The Red Chord, Between the Buried and Me, Atreyu, Unearth, Norma Jean, Bleeding Through, Black Label Society, Hatebreed, Avenged Sevenfold, Disturbed and System of a Down) and I must send out a thank you to Sheneza and Shazila for all the help.  Not only did I get to see INSANE sets from my buddies in Strapping Young Lad, Dragonforce and Lacuna Coil, but I got to see many of the other bands I like and know.  Be sure to check out the REALLY funny photos I took at the signings for those three bands as well.

The last show I was able to attend was the Taunted, Artillery Hell and Shepherd's Gate gig on July 8th in San Jose.  I was pleasantly surprised by Shepherd's Gate, whom up until now, I only knew by name.  They REALLY know how to thrash it up!  I have to check them out some more.  Artillery Hell showcased their newly anointed full-fledged bassist at the show.  I was able to get shots of each of the bands, though I had to leave during the 4th song of Taunted due to a massive migraine.  Still got a bunch of pics of them before I left though, don't you worry.

I also have some NON-BAND photos that I have added this time around.  There is one gallery dedicated to a few new photos of San Francisco and Marin Headlands that I did on the day I went up to San Francisco to go see the opening day of the exhibition for the Titanic.  Many, many, many thanks to my webmaster Archie for helping me go to this exhibition!  The second gallery I uploaded is a ton of photos from the Campbell Highland (Scottish) Games.  Want to see some guys in kilts or some bagpipe bands?  Go look!  I also uploaded quite a few new photos to my Animals gallery, including some more photos of my best friend John's cats.

On another note, I got a REALLY good interview done with Bill Hudson, guitarist/backing vocals for the insane power metal band, Cellador.  It is quite the interesting read - you can go here to read it if you are inclined enough to learn about a new band.  They are leaving in a couple of days on a short tour of part of the US, Canada and Mexico, and I beg of you to go see them if you like this type of music.  They are VERY high energy live and won't disappoint you.  You can see their tour dates by going to their MySpace page

Scroll down past the band listings below to get a feel for my newly reconstructed site.  Some things to look forward to that will be featured here soon are pics from Slayer, Children of Bodom, Lamb of God, Mastadon, Thine Eyes Bleed, many shows of Cellador and possibly a band photo shoot.  More to look forward to after that is Sounds of the Underground, featuring As I Lay Dying, In Flames, Trivium, Cannibal Corpse, Behemoth, Terror, GWAR, Evergreen Terrace, Machine Head, Job For A Cowboy, The Black Dahlia Murder, The Chariot and Through the Eyes of the Dead.  And that's just the upcoming gigs for THIS month!  I will also be adding interviews soon from Sadus, Angel Blake, Cannibal Corpse, The Black Dahlia Murder, Behemoth, In Flames and quite a few more. As always, thanks for wandering onto my site and enjoy your stay!

MAY 30th, 2006:

Wow do I ever have some updates for you guys THIS time!!! I've been QUITE the busy photographer/traveler in the last few weeks. This update is one of TWO that will get posted in a week's time - I had SO much to post that I had to divide the updates into two!

For the first set of updates, I have photos from the sold-out Dragonforce/Protest The Hero/Sanctity show in San Francisco. It was the fastest-selling gig in the HISTORY of Insipid Productions!!! I was glad to have witnessed what I was able to - I got relegated to the backstage after about 6 songs and from that time until the last song, I could only hear the band due to more bruised ribs, a bruised pelvis, bruised thigh and bruised and scraped raw forearms. They put on one HELLUVA show, as did Protest The Hero and Sanctity. Stay tuned for an interview from all three bands.

Next up I had the extreme pleasure to fly to Minneapolis less than 2 days later to see the one-and-only GAMMA RAY. Most people who know me know that I swore in my lifetime, I would see five bands. Up to that point, I had seen four, the fifth and last out of my grasp being Gamma Ray. I've been a HUGE fan for 16 years, yet never seen the band. The fact that I have a new job right now also didn't help, since I could not fly or drive to the Los Angeles area for that gig, as it was in the middle of the week. Seeing my predicament, my best friend John said he'd fly me out Chicago first and then to the Maplewood, Minnesota gig if I could get tickets for him and myself quite cheap. Needless to say, I managed quite well and was able to go! Then, I found out that Avian was doing their first live gig at that show, Cellador got added, Miles Beyond got added and Mirror Black also got added (whom I did not get to see, only hear, at Powerfest). I couldn't believe my luck as I am fans of ALL of these bands. The gig was VERY VERY good.

We also managed to do quite a bit of sightseeing on the extra day and a half we had there. That's where the OTHER part of this update is going. I took a TON of photos at historical Fort Snelling, which runs along the banks of the Minnesota and Mississippi Rivers. We went on a hunt on that Saturday to try to find the point where the two rivers meet, which is basically like a V, so that I could take pictures of it, but I think we ended up running into everything cool BUT that place! We got to see the historical marker in Mendota and the tiny Acacia Cemetery just above a road that goes down by the river. Then we got to see the St. Peter's Church, which apparently is the oldest church still standing in Minnesota. Then we drove down that road to see the Sibley House, which is the oldest house in Minnesota. We still could NOT find the river's meeting points, so we finally decided to go to the Mall of America. MAN! To say that Mall is huge would be a gross understatement. I tried to take some photos of the middle of the mall so you could see the HUGE amusement park that's there and you could gauge the size of this place. I also took photos of EACH SIDE of the maps/list of stores, which each signify a different floor to the mall (there are four floors). It has over 400 stores and over 12,000 employees on a given day. That's like 1/3 the size of the TOWN I live in!!! hahaha

I had wanted to see some historical sites dealing with Native American Indian things as well on that trip, but I knew we didn't have enough time since those were much farther away. Imagine my surprise when I suddenly hear Native chantings and singing in the middle of the mall! So we go following the sounds and I got a huge treat in seeing two quite-famous fancy dancers from the Sioux Nation, Larry and Jessup Yazzie. One is the father and the other is his son, who's I'm guessing about 8 or 9 years old. I am lucky they even came as the wife/mother gave birth to a baby daughter at 5am that morning. They also had Smiley Campbell come out and do a dance to honor Veterans of wars. They explained each of the dances, what they are meant for, what their regalia means and even had the little kids in the audience come and learn some of it. Really, really cool to see.

The day we left (Sunday), I got even MORE determined and decided we would try one last time to find the fork where the two rivers meet. WE FOUND IT! And we found it about 200 yards away from the Sibley House, no less! It happened to be at the end of this crazy road, under a railroad overpass and a really old archway, and then down this pathway. I was sooooo happy. Also on the way back, just by pure chance, we went on the wrong freeway (which still took us to the airport) and saw the huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuge St. Paul's Cathedral off the freeway. We took an exit about 1 1/2 miles later and zigzagged back on a bunch of streets to find it. The architecture on this place is PHENOMENAL. I got a lot of pictures of that as well. We must've looked QUITE funny since there was a service about to begin and people filing in - me, in my Vader sweats, Morgana Lefay zipup sweatshirt and and Eldritch t-shirt; John in a Perzonal War t-shirt, Morgana Lefay zipup sweatshirt, jeans and long hair. HAHAHAHA

After we got back to Chicago, we went to a cemetery called St. Adalbert's to see some older, cool stones. Then we decided to make a run downtown at sunset to see if there was anything to photograph and damn, was I ever happy! Buckingham Fountain (aka the fountain at the beginning of the series Married With Children, aka the holy grail to Swedish metal musicians) was lit up in it's full glory and the water was on full blast. Got to take some gorgeous pictures of that as well.

I also added a NEW gallery - it's called Animals - the furry ones, not the band. I had a bunch of really cute photos of John's crazy cats and I knew I had a lot of photos of buffalo, moose, deer, bunnies, my dad's dog, etc in other parts of my site, so I combined them all into this gallery. Hope you like it.

One last thing - I also added some really cool photos of rainbows in the Scenery and Other Concept Shots gallery. I work on the 7th floor and got a grand view of some rainbows there one day while working, so I took some shots of it.

Stay tuned as I will be releasing my photos of In Flames, Nevermore, Evergrey, Throwdown, Cryptopsy, Abysmal Dawn, Obituary and Sadus in the next 4 or 5 days, plus a couple of new interviews. Thanks for stopping by!

MAY 6th, 2006:

Ahhhhhh, it's nice to have an unexpected update every now and then. :) I had the extreme pleasure to be able to see Jetboy's reunion last week (they haven't played in 15 years!), along with the return of Junkyard whom haven't been to the Bay Area in about the same amount of time. Also go to check American Heartbreak once again, who also have Jetboy members in the band. This was one of those feel-good, dance-all-night types of gigs that's good to see every once in a while. I had a big grin on my face for the majority of the show (except at the REALLY REALLY drunk idiot Junkyard fans that were pissing off Kenny, Rob and me, UGH). I am so glad to have been there. So, I hope you enjoy the photos below!!! As I mentioned in the last update, stay tuned for some Dragonforce, Gamma Ray, Avian, Exodus, WASP, Lizzy Borden, etc photos coming up very soon and quite a few new interviews as well!!!

APRIL 25th, 2006:

I am quite the injured one from these three gigs and I still have bronchitis, yet I am here to bring you a new update anyway. I had to have SOMETHING to do when I couldn't get out of the apartment! lol First, we have the Exodus/Full Blown Chaos/Sangre Eterna gig. It was quite nice to see the Exodus guys on stage again and it seems that all that touring really solidified their lineup. They sounded AWESOME and looked it as well. Any of you in the Bay Area who are around on May 19th better be showing up at the Pound in SF to see the last night of the tour, dammit! The other gig was TWO nights (yes, TWO) in a row of Morbid Angel/Behemoth/Krisiun/Despised Icon at the Pound. Yes, I realize that I only have ONE night of Morbid Angel photos - that's because I was so incredibly injured during Behemoth that I was having to try to get circulation to my legs and arms in the backstage area during their set. They sounded great from there though! Talk about two nights of complete INSANITY. One of the heaviest lineups I've seen in a while and my body can tell the tale for sure. Look at MY BLOG ON MYSPACE for a full review of both shows, coming soon!

Keep coming to the site as I will be having photos from High On Fire, Goatwhore, Watch Them Die, Dragonforce, Protest The Hero, Sancity, Crytopsy, In Flames, Nevermore, Evergrey and a special report from the Gamma Ray/Avian/Miles Beyond/Mirror Black/Cellador/Kwang gig in Minneapolis - all coming to you within the next month! I will also be putting up some merch for sale on my site for Morgana Lefay and Eldritch, both of whom I work with. Additionally, I will have a few new interviews with Angel Blake (new band with Marko and Janne from the Crown and Tony ex-Mnemic), Dark Tranquillity, Exodus, Sonata Arctica, Avian and a few more soon. What I do for metal. :)

APRIL 16th, 2006:

YAY!!!!!!!!! I finally got enough time to post all the photos I did at Chicago Powerfest, even from when we were running around town with the bands. Unfortunately, I did NOT get to take photos of Agent Steel, Withering Soul, Gracepoint, Mirror Black, Ion Vein or Twelfth Gate (GO HERE to see my detailed insider review and thanks, then you'll understand). But I did manage to get Biomechanical, Eldritch, Morgana Lefay and Nocturnal Rites. Stay tuned in the next week as I will be posting photos from the Exodus/Full Blown Chaos/Sangre Eterna gig last night as well as Morbid Angel/Behemoth/Krisiun/Despised Icon later this week. Also coming up are a TON of other bands/shows, including High On Fire, Goatwhore, Watch Them Die, Dragonforce, Gamma Ray/Avian/Ion Vein (my best friend is flying me out to Minnesota so I can catch them live, WEEEEEEEEEE!), Cryptopsy, another Exodus/Full Blown Chaos gig and some others. Man, it's going to be busy. :D

MARCH 27th, 2006:

Yes, I realize it took me TWO WEEKS to get my Dark Tranquillity and Kreator photos up. It's been an interesting chaos around here for the last few weeks. Plus the fact that I wanted to release the Loudness pictures at the same time. :)

So, needless to say, I got some VERY cool photos of Dark Tranquillity when they were here on the 12th. A bunch of off-stage photos from them as well. Had loads of fun, got pretty squashed in the front and legs hurt like all hell, but DEFINITELY worth it. You'll see what I mean by the photos. If you want to read a sort of "review" I did about the show on their official forum, go here. I got to see Kreator the next day after Dark Traquillity as well. I had a lot of fun being able to talk with them a lot and get some stuff sorted out. I was actually REALLY surprised I got any decent photos at all. For one thing, it was incredibly squishy up front. Thanks a MILLION to my fellow photographer Jerry for helping me in the front and protecting me as much as possible. I really, really appreciate that. Also, the band and club both said for there to be no crowd surfers because it was too dangerous as there were a LOT of people in there. Still, five people crowd surfed. One landed right at me and kicked me downwards into my ribs and the other foot kicked me downwards into my stomach muscles. Another crowd surfer kicked me in the head twice. Needless to say, that's the reason for the bad photo of me after the concert with the splint/brace around my ribs. Got lots of photos with killer lights too, but sometimes the smoke they use distorted a lot of my photos. Plus most of them were done one-handed since I couldn't lift up my left side. So I'm pretty happy considering all of that. hehe JBD is an AWESOME very young and talented band that opened the gig for Loudness! Man, I was floored. They are I believe only 17 years old, yet have a VERY good stage presence and a really great sound. Very raw, very determined sound that makes me think they'd easily be able to play at the Sturgis Biker Rally. hehe It's rare that I get super impressed by a band I don't know, but I think I'm going to try to help these kids out as much as I can. They have a major drive behind them. Dirty Power also have a great, raw sound to them and really got the crowd geared up. Their set was very tight, even though they had no room to move on stage - but they made the most of it, that's for sure! All Time Highs is Mark Osegueda from Death Angel's new side project band. Now don't go to their shows expecting to hear thrash - they are far from it. They have a more heavy heavy old school rock vibe. Not to mention that Mark was as energetic as ever. I think I spent half the set dodging his mic cord and untangling it from different pieces of gear. LOL Loudness... it may have taken them over an hour to take the stage, but DAMN was it worth the wait!!! I've been a fan nearly as long as they've been around and do they ever sound awesome on stage! I feel sad that I will never get to see them live again, but at the same time I was even more appreciative that they played! They were a bit hard to photograph due to the fog on stage, but I managed to get some really cool ones, especially of Akira-san.

I also decided to post some photos that I took around San Francisco in December for my dad. It was a VERY beautiful day so was able to get some really crystal clear shots at the Cliffhouse. I also found, of all things and by total accident, a very old "tall ship" parked by Ghiradelli Square. That made my whole trip worth it! I think I have about 40-50 pictures around town, so thought you guys might enjoy something a little different. :)

On a side note, my site has now passed 16,000 photos and over 400 galleries! Wow... and I still say too much is never enough. HAHAHA Stay tuned as I will be posting a HUUUUUUUUUUUGE update next time around with photos from Goatwhore, Watch Them Die, TONS from Chicago Powerfest including all the bands Morgana Lefay, Nocturnal Rites, Eldritch, Biomechanical, Agent Steel, Ion Vein, Twelfth Gate, Gracepoint, Mirror Black and Withering Soul. I will also be updating soon photos from the next Exodus gig, Morbid Angel, Behemoth, Krisiun, Despised Icon, Slough Feg, Brocus Helm, Dragonforce, Necrophagist, Cattle Decapitation, Arsis, Neuraxis, Alarm... and the list goes on! Now if I would just quit getting INJURED at these gigs, I'd be all set. :)

MARCH 4th, 2006:

Another small update today. I'm happy to release a very detailed interview from my Swedes, Morgana Lefay. Little do you know how hard yet entertaining it is to get four of the five band members to get answers back to me! HA! Even more entertaining is coming up with some questions geared to each band member specifically, yet having a few where they all answer certain questions. I think we've managed to cover pretty much every release, lots of off the wall questions and things you always wondered about the band-type of questions as well. Concluding my pre-show promotion of the four international bands appearing at Chicago Powerfest 2006 is an interesting interview with Nils Eriksson from Nocturnal Rites. Also posted are various interviews (new and archived) from Angel Dust, The Crown, Hammerfall, Sacred Steel and Symphony X. To view any of these interviews, please go to the INTERACT button on top, then choose INTERVIEWS. Thanks so much for the support and happy reading!!!

FEBRUARY 24th, 2006:

Wow... time for another update. Seems like months have gone by, even though they haven't. I have a few treats for you this time.
First off, I have a brand new section on my site. It is the "INTERVIEW" section. I have very recently done interviews with the four international bands for Chicago Powerfest 2006. I thought it would be a good time to do them as I really would like you to see what the bands are like and what they are about. Even if you don't know who they are, I think if you check into these interviews, you may be a bit intrigued. I tried to cover a little bit of everything about each of the band's careers instead of only focusing on the recent releases. That way, you have a broader view of the band as a whole. I am only releasing two interviews this week - one with Terence from Eldritch and one with John from Biomechanical. If you check back NEXT Friday (March 3rd), you will be able to see an interview with Nils Eriksson of Nocturnal Rites and a VERY in depth interview with FOUR of the guys from Morgana Lefay - Charles, Fredrik, Robin and Tony (Peter was away from a computer at the time of the interviews, sorry guys). I have also added a new interview with Cede from Symphorce. I decided that it might be nice to also post quite a few of my interviews from the recent past and long ago past, which this week includes Amon Amarth, King Diamond, Manowar (only one of the six I've done), Primordial, Sonata Arctica and Strapping Young Lad. When we release the Morgana Lefay and Nocturnal Rites interviews next week, we will also be releasing some other interviews that were conducted as recent as June 2005 and reached into the archives to drag out ones as old as 2001, to be including Angel Dust, The Crown, Hammerfall, Sacred Steel and Symphony X. These are by NO MEANS all the interviews I've ever done, just the ones which files I accessible at the moment. So this is a work in process! To view any of these interviews, please go to the INTERACT button on top, then choose INTERVIEWS.

On the photos front, I have photos from Damage Inc., which is an early-Metallica tribute band from the Bay Area that includes Larry Howe of Vicious Rumors on drums. I also have photos of Sonata Arctica from all three of their California appearances, along with their support bands Apocrophos, Light This City, Prymary and Scarred. I have also included photos of Down Factor at the Oakland battle of the bands gig at the end of January.

Hopefully this will fulfill your metal needs as I will not be around for a couple of weeks to update my site (other than the addition of the second set of Powerfest interviews next Friday). I will be auctioning off quite a few of my metal concert shirts (many different sizes, many never worn) to help me cope with the situation I am in at the moment. If you want further notice about that, please add me on your Myspace account (see banner link above) or email me. I hope you enjoy the photos and interviews and if you have any feedback, let me know on my guestbook or on my forum! Metal on!!!

JANUARY 28th, 2006:

Hey everyone! Yes, I know it's long overdue for a REAL update on here. But I'm going through a MAJOR personal hell in my life right now so just haven't been able to get to any shows. And I got re-sick after Vader really bad, so couldn't exactly get out during that time either. And yes, that's the reason I missed Children of Bodom, Amon Amarth, Strapping Young Lad, Dragonlord, Arch Enemy - it SUCKS being sick. Hey, not to mention that for about a month there WERE no shows of note going on! hahaha Good timing for me, I'd say. Anyhow, did manage to get a few new things going here. Band-wise, I have 14 new galleries, including photos from the two-tours-in-one festival from the Pound on January 20th. Consisted of Anthrax, Nile, Hypocrisy, God Forbid, Sworn Enemy, Soilent Green, Raging Speedhorn, Decapitated, Manntis and With Passion. Wasn't able to get pics of those last two bands because I was still getting my photo pass, but got everyone else. Gig was great although it was DAMNED cold because it was held OUTSIDE. Started at 330pm on a FRIDAY and ended at 11pm because of a sound ordinance. Then I made my way up to see Nile, Hypocrisy, Soilent Green and Decapitated in Orangevale the next day - damned I was tired. Hanging out until 3am the previous night then driving for nearly 3 hours to this next gig was REALLY pushing it. And please don't be mad with the photos from Orangevale. I was not able to stand in front so I didn't get very many AND I was getting them from sitting on the side stairs to the stage. Although some of the Decapitated ones are from the audience. That crowd was INSANE. And it was so hot in there, sheesh. But hey I got some at least! Then after hanging out all day Sunday with my friends and driving back almost 4 hours back home, I remembered on Monday afternoon that I needed to get myself to the Pound, no matter how tired and sore I was. Had to check out Rigor Mortis, Impaled and Sangre Eterna. Been waiting over 15 years to see RM! WOOOOOOOOOHOOOOOO and damned I was NOT disappointed! If all of you speed/thrash fans out there can, I TOTALLY recommend seeing Rigor Mortis! You won't regret it.

A few other updates I did on here are that I added two new sections to the list of band galleries. If you go here, you will see that I added next to each band how many galleries I have of the particular band. Also, for those bands that are listed that I've seen lots of times but haven't gotten all the galleries up, I let you know that I have more galleries coming for that band at some point. Also, if you scroll to the bottom, I added a section called "Galleries Coming Soon". These are bands that I have no photos of on my site at the moment, but I do have photos of that will go up at some point. In some cases, I have multiple galleries that will be posted for a single band because I've done photos at more than one show. I also updated my CD collection list a bit. We will be adding the Upcoming Events section very soon so that you can see ALL the rock and metal shows for this entire northern California in one place. We're working on it!

On the Chicago Powerfest front, we are pleased to announce the final lineup: Morgana Lefay, Nocturnal Rites (1st US appearance!), Eldritch (1st US appearance!), Biomechanical, Agent Steel, Ion Vein, Twelfth Gate, Gracepoint, Mirror Black and Withering Soul. The show is in Chicago Heights, IL on April 7th and 8th. All kinds of info can be found there or by going to www.chicagopowerfest.com. Will be some great fun!

So........ if all gets straightened out a bit in my life, I hope to have you some photos of Sonata Arctica, Loudness, Kreator, Napalm Death, Morbid Angel, Krisiun, Vader, Kataklysm, Destruction, Graveworm and quite a few more in the coming months. Lots of metal coming here, WOOT!
